About

We are a group of local residents that was formed after the latest proposals for our neighbourhood was released by HS2 AP2 in July and we were given a month to respond.

See report below –

On reading the above it became clear of the very real threat to our area of HS2 HGV’s and construction traffic using our local roads day in and day out for years and years, blighting the area.

“What has been disappointing is the lack of information and consultation and the short window of opportunity given to respond”. – Cllr Nathan Evans Hale Barns and Timperley South Councillor

Following a packed public meeting by the local ward councillors and Oliver Carroll a local resident and Parliamentary candidate. It was agreed to set up a steering committee to petition against the route of the HS2 construction traffic. Which is set to have detrimental effect on the residents and the wellbeing of the area.

We are now a fully constituted group and our Chairman is Richard Dyson a local resident.

For those that have not yet read the petition please see below

Once the 1400 strong petition was received by HS2 it was made clear that we needed to go in front of the Parliamentary Select Committee to have our right to be heard agreed. We were represented by our ward Councillor Nathan Evans and Oliver Carroll who has experience in this field.

Attending the select committee on the 14th of September Councillor Nathan Evans and Oliver Carroll, the parliamentary candidate for Altrincham and Sale West, spoke in the House of Commons to the Parliamentary Select Committee, asking for our,”right to be heard”. Pertaining to the petition that was sent, in response to HS2 AP2 amendment. Which was suggesting the use of residential roads for HS2 HGV’s construction traffic.

The Select Committee on the High Speed Rail (Crewe – Manchester) Bill was set up to oversee the Bill’s petitioning period. The Committee provides individuals and bodies directly and specially affected by the Bill with the opportunity to object to the Bill’s specific provisions and to seek its amendment.
